TSS Supply offers four shot sizes in Standard (40-51 HRC) Hardness:

S-170 (Fine)

• When to use: Best for brand-new concrete, light surface cleaning, or preparing for thin-mil coatings like clear sealers and urethanes.
• The Profile: Creates a very fine, sandpaper-like texture.  It ensures thin coatings go on smoothly without the surface roughness "telescoping" or showing through the final finish.

S-280 (Medium-Fine)

• When to use: Ideal for light profiling on standard concrete or removing thin sealers and light grime. It’s an excellent choice when a standard epoxy is being applied but the concrete is relatively soft or new.
• The Profile: Achieves a light-to-medium profile, providing a clean anchor pattern for light-commercial roll-on coatings.

S-330 (Medium — Industry Standard)

• When to use: This is your "go-to" size for general-purpose floor prep. Use it for standard self-leveling epoxies, medium-build color coats, and broadcast systems. It effectively opens up the pores of dense or hard-troweled concrete.
• The Profile: Creates a distinct, reliable anchor pattern that ensures excellent mechanical adhesion for most standard high-performance floor coatings.

S-460 (Coarse)

• When to use: Reserved for heavy-duty jobs. Use this size for stripping away old, stubborn coatings (like thick epoxies or urethane topcoats), removing heavy laitance, or preparing the floor for high-build overlays and heavy cementitious mortars.
• The Profile: Blasts a deep, rough texture.  Do not use this size for thin coatings, as the peaks of the concrete profile will stick out through the paint.
